Proposal for New Jersey Transit ticket re-design; an updated look and a sutainable system that decreases the agency's carbon footprint/paper-waste by more than 50%.
With a desire to entice my classmates to come out of their shells during crit, I broke the ice by presenting the opportunity to praise and slam some of the industry's most well-known design collectives. I then transcribed the recorded sessions, documented the crticisms and acclaims, and mailed them to their respective owners.
In the anticipation and excitment of visiting the Avant-Garde Objects exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum, I re-designed the museum's identity, made a poster/mailer for the exhibit, had it printed, mailed it to myself, and then hung it on my wall. All in a day's work, indeed.
Selected litho and screen prints from a series of posters to promote a New York band's globe-trek.

Curious about ad-impact and consumer communication in the late 1960's, I documented the data analysis of a 1968 issue of Playboy Magazine. Documenting such things and frequency of product advertisement to the number of clothed vs. unclothed females, my results suggested the quite ironic and undoubedtly unusual: The most well known magazine containing nudity was primarly advertising men's clothing.
A self-initiated public intervention piece which warned those about to throw out recyclable items: "Recycling Won't Kill You". The project documentation then took form as a book — printed on 100% recycled paper with eco-friendly ink, of course.

"Smile, You're Not Dead Yet" is the culmination of my exploration into public intervention and enticing the viewer to become the artist. A real-time web-based projection feed mounted on the gallery wall cast the submissions of the gallery's guests over vinyl CAD Cut letters set in the beautiful Gill Sans. Able to input their submission via tablet hard-wired to a custom-coded ActionScript/PHP/Applescript application, users were asked to fill in the blanks and express themselves — anonymously.
My submission for the Bobst sustainability project. In an effort to do their part to reduce their carbon footprint, Bobst approached the design students at Mason Gross School of the Arts to design folders to showcase the companies abilities for their upcoming trade show. In return, the winning design would be utilized, mass-produced in folder-form, and donated to the students of Rutgers University. News coverage featuring myself (far right) and my two fellow designer friends can be found here.
